About CADP

The Summit is a forum that ABU established in June 2014 in Jakarta as a platform to bring together all parties in the Climate Action and DRR processes and link them to media for disseminating information and good practices to wide audiences. At the same time, it introduces ABU members and other media professionals from across the world to the complex process of climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness.

The forum brings together media, government agencies responsible for disaster management and disaster risk reduction, international organisations, NGOs and community leaders. It explores how to use the unparalleled audience reach of media to build knowledgeable communities able to understand the negative impacts of climate change. Up for discussion are media challenges in reporting on climate change and media solutions to adapt to those changes through the media.

The ABU Together for Planet, People, Peace Media Awards are attached to the Summit. This competition aims to honour and recognize the outstanding contributions of media entities that have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the principles of sustainability, social justice, and peace through their programmes. Its popularity among ABU members and beyond is steadily growing with the third Awards in Bali attracting record 122 entries from 33 countries.
